Important Update from Academic Advising

Beginning Thursday, March 19, the Freshman Advising Center academic advisors will meet with students remotely (either through email or by phone). Although you will not be meeting one-on-one in the office, you will still continue to have full access to your advisor through email, phone, and online (AVISO: http://my.bsu.edu). Additionally, the Freshman Advising Center will continue to have resources available on the website (www.bsu.edu/advising) and announcements/updates on Twitter (@bsu_advising).

If you have any questions/concerns related to your academic program, contact your advisor through email. Advisors are available to answer questions regarding major/minor selection, campus resources, success strategies, and your current classes. AVISO (http://my.bsu.edu) will provide you with your advisor's contact information and can be used to message your advisor directly.

If you have not already done so, NOW is the time to schedule an appointment with your advisor. The Fall Semester 2020 course registration period is March 30 - April 10 (and is based on your individual time ticket). During your advising appointment, your academic advisor will help you select appropriate courses, learn about important dates/procedures, review your academic progress, discuss your major requirements, and more. You should access your DegreeWorks worksheet during the appointment and your advisor will use this to discuss courses, major, and academic planning. You can pull-up your DegreeWorks worksheet by logging into Self-Service Banner (http://my.bsu.edu) and clicking on "Student" and "DegreeWorks for Students".
To schedule an appointment, go online to http://my.bsu.edu and log into AdvisorTrac (located under "additional tools"). When you make an appointment, please indicate in the "Notes" field if you prefer for the appointment to be conducted through email or by phone. You will receive a confirmation email that includes the phone number to call at the time of your appointment. Remember that your advisor may have phone appointments with other students that run long; you may need to call back in five minutes if the advisor is not available. You can also call (765) 285-1161 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to schedule an appointment.

If you already have an appointment scheduled, you do not need to call for that appointment. Your academic advisor will call you at the appointment time at the phone number you provided when the appointment was scheduled.

Please check your Ball State email on a regular basis. Given the nature of how appointments are currently being conducted, it is even more imperative that you check your BSU email on a daily basis, not only to be in contact with professors/instructors, but also because your academic advisor will use this as the primary method for communicating vital information to you over the next several weeks.
