Pre-Registration Advising Information

All new new first-year students at Ball State University are required to review the Pre-Registration Advising Information prior to meeting with your academic advisor and planning your Spring 2021 class schedule! An Advising Planning Worksheet and detailed Registration Instructions are also available online (same link!).

These valuable tools provide will you with details regarding:

  • who will help you plan spring classes
  • tracking academic progress through DegreeWorks
  • how many classes you should take in the spring
  • when and how you can register for spring classes

Once you have reviewed the Pre-Registration Advising Information and Advising Planning Worksheet, you should schedule a remote appointment with your academic advisor to discuss Spring 2021 registration and your academic progress. Advisors will conduct spring registration advising appointments through early November.

To schedule a remote advising appointment, go to myBSU (http://my.bsu.edu) and log into AdvisorTrac with your Ball State username and password. AdvisorTrac is located under the Additional Tools heading and is pretty simple to use. (If needed, a video tutorial is available at: https://www.bsu.edu/academics/advising/gettingstarted/freshmen.) You can also schedule a remote advising appointment by calling the Freshman Advising Center at 765-285-1161 during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.). Remember that all advising appointments this semester will be conducted by WebEx or phone.
