As you gear up for Finals Week and the end of the Spring
2019 semester, here are a few things to keep in mind:
1.
The biggest
mistake students tend to make before an exam is to disrupt their normal schedules. Preparing for an exam in such a way
interferes with familiar sleeping, eating, and other habits and makes it
difficult to concentrate on the task at hand.
In normal language all that is saying is that it is NOT a good idea to “cram”
for tests or complete papers/projects by staying up all night. Numerous studies show that this does NOT help
students to earn “good” grades on tests.
MANAGE YOUR TIME WELL DURING FINALS WEEK!
2.
Grades
will be available in May. You
may certainly look at Blackboard or Canvas to view any grades that professors/instructors
put on there, but your official grades are viewable only through your http://my.bsu.edu page in Self-Service (SSB)
Banner.
3.
Questions
and concerns about your grades/GPA can be directed to me at lpittman@bsu.edu. But as an Academic Advisor, I cannot change your
grades (regardless of the circumstances).
There is a formal grade appeal process that always starts with the
class professor/instructor, which means that students must contact the
instructor DIRECTLY for any questions/concerns about a grade in an individual
class.
4.
Should
you need to make changes to your Fall Semester 2019 schedule, you can still do so all summer up through the first week of classes. But the sooner the better! I am accessible in my office (North Quad 339) and through
phone/email over the summer, so feel free to contact me at lpittman@bsu.edu.
